About The Arizona Dream Act Coalition

The Arizona Dream Act Coalition is an alliance of statewide organizations dedicated to the passage of the Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act or DREAM Act. There are over 2.1 million undocumented immigrant children that were brought to the United States as infants and young children. They lived and grew up in the United States all their lives and many don’t even remember their home countries. However, because they were brought “without papers,” they cannot vote, drive or work and they live in constant fear of deportation. Under current laws there is no legal avenue for these children and young adults to apply for residency or citizenship.

THE DREAM ACT

The DREAM Act is a piece of bipartisan legislation at the federal level. This bill would grant conditional residency to undocumented students who were brought to the United States before the age of sixteen, demonstrate good moral character, graduate from high school and complete two years of college and / or military service. Based out of Arizona State University, the Arizona Dream Act Coalition helps inform, organize and train new chapters at high schools, community colleges and universities across the state of Arizona. The ADAC provides the research, materials, and training to new chapters and assists them in promoting the DREAM Act at their own campuses.
